Execute chrome/app/generated_resources action on RBE Benchmark result: reduced wall time for target 'chrome' by 13-20% on cloudtops. Most grit and grit_strings targets don't specify their inputs which results in remote build failures. To get a list of necessary files I found grit_info.py. grit_info.py has functionality to list all needed inputs of a .grd file, but it considers build variables. For our use case this does not work since the dependencies declared need to work for all build configs. I added functionality that unconditionally lists all input files which can be called like this: `python3 tools/grit/grit_info.py --all-inputs chrome/app/generated_resources.grd` With this info we can build dependency files like action_with_pydeps. The grit rule template is changed accordingly. //build contains:
Since this directory is DEPS'ed in by some other repositories (webrtc, pdfium, v8, etc), it should be kept as self-contained as possible by not referring to files outside of it. Some exceptions exist (//testing, select //third_party subdirectories), but new dependencies tend to break these other projects, and so should be avoided.
Changes to //build should be landed in the Chromium repo. They will then be replicated to the stand-alone build repo by the gsubtreed tool. Note: You can find all directories already available through gsubtreed in the list of all chromium repos.
